The Beaux Stratagem, by George Farquhar was the most popular Restoration Comedy of the entire genre when it was written, and holds second place for popularity of revival since. Our production featured an attempt to get our audience to understand what attending a Restoration playhouse might have been like. Orange girls greeted the audience, and actors dressed as Restoration playgoers held box seats on the stage which featured a wing and drop set. In this photo, Mrs. Sullen instructs Dorinda on how to capture a beau. |
